Roll of Honour

The Roll of Honour contains the names of all 28 'official' raid victims - i.e. those upon whom Coroner's inquests were held.

A memorial plaque, built into the wall of the old Baltic Works on Effingham Road, commemorates 29 victims of the raid. It was unveiled on 11 November 1922 and is still in-situ (see Picture Gallery). It records the deaths of nine men, ten women and ten children, none of whom are named. The official figures record only eight men dying in the raid, which poses the question, who is the ninth man commemorated on the memorial?

If you have any suggestions on the identity of the 29th victim or information about any of the casualties, please contact Mark and Glynn.
